Questions

Good to know before you start.

What is the difference between the plans?
Every plan includes clean monthly books and your plain-English read. You move up for more advisory and faster delivery: Growth adds a quarterly review call with me. Advisory makes that call monthly and adds a rotating deep dive on pricing, customer profitability, cost structure or capacity. Higher plans also get your books back earlier in the month.
How is my exact price set?
In the free Business Health Review. I set your rate on your service level and your transaction and document volume, so you pay for the work your business actually needs. The transaction counts on each plan are a fair-use guide, not a hard cap, and there is no per-transaction charge. Every date above falls on the next business day when it lands on a weekend.
How fast do you answer?
Same business day on Advisory, and within one business day on Essentials and Growth. Once a month I send one short list of anything I could not work out from your bank feed. Most answers are a sentence, not a document, and I ask for them back within two business days so your close is never held up.
What is not included?
I do not do tax returns, tax filing, or payroll. You keep your CPA for tax and your payroll provider for payroll, and I hand them clean books. I record your bills and what your customers owe you, but I do not pay bills or chase your customers. No audit, review, or compilation is performed and no assurance is provided on the financial information I prepare.
Do I need QuickBooks?
Your books are kept in QuickBooks Online. If you are not already on it, I set it up and bill the subscription separately from my fee. If you already have it, we can either move it onto my firm account or leave it where it is, whichever you prefer.
Is there onboarding, and is there a contract?
Onboarding is $600, and you choose how to start: pay it, or have it waived in exchange for a three-month commitment. Either way, your first 30 days are money-back guaranteed on your first month’s fee. After any initial term it is month to month, with no long-term contract.
What if I am behind on my books?
Most owners are, and that is fine. I will get you current before we start the monthly rhythm, quoted based on how far back we need to go. It is never a flat fee, always based on your history.
What if my business has two sides?
If both sides run through one company, I can track them cleanly in one set of books so each has its own picture. What that costs depends on how the money moves: it is inexpensive when each side has its own account, and more work when they share one. We price it in the Business Health Review. Two separate legal companies are two sets of books and a separate engagement.
