Terms

Terms of service.

Plain English. These terms apply to this website and, until a signed engagement letter says otherwise, to work I do for you.

What I do

BooksSteady LLC provides monthly bookkeeping and financial reporting for small businesses. That means recording and categorizing transactions, reconciling accounts, closing the books each month, and giving you a written plain-English read on what the numbers show.

What I do not do

I do not prepare or file tax returns. I am not your payroll provider and I do not prepare or file payroll tax returns or make payroll tax deposits. I am not a CPA, and I do not perform an audit, a review, or a compilation. No assurance of any kind is provided on the financial information I prepare. Nothing I give you is tax advice or legal advice, and nothing on this website is either. You keep your CPA for tax and your payroll provider for payroll.

What I need from you

The work depends on you getting me complete and accurate records by the date your plan specifies. I rely on what you give me. I do not independently verify it, and I am not responsible for errors that trace back to incomplete or inaccurate information, or to information that arrives late.

Fees

Fees are monthly and set in writing before work begins. Prices shown on this site are starting points; your exact price depends on your volume and the service level you choose. Any QuickBooks Online subscription is billed separately from my fee. Setup and the rebuild of your historical books are included in exchange for a three-month initial term, and are not separately charged.

The guarantee, and what it actually means

Thirty days. If you are not satisfied in your first thirty days, tell me and I will refund your first month’s fee. That is the remedy: the first month’s fee. It does not cover the QuickBooks subscription, which is a third-party cost, and it does not cancel the recovery described under Cancelling below.

Your close date. If I am going to miss your close date, you hear it from me before the date, with a new date. No surprises and no silence.

Cancelling

Month to month. Cancel with thirty days’ notice and you are billed through the end of that notice period, nothing further. Setup and your historical rebuild are provided in exchange for a three-month initial term. If you leave for convenience before completing that term, your final invoice includes the initial-term fees not yet invoiced, capped so that your total initial-term fees plus that recovery never exceed three monthly fees. This does not apply if you leave because I materially breached and did not cure.

Confidentiality

I treat your financial information as confidential and use it only to do your work. I do not sell it, rent it, or share it for marketing. How I handle it, who else touches it, and how long I keep it are set out in the privacy policy.

Limitation of liability

Bookkeeping is a monthly service at a monthly fee, and my liability is scaled to that. If you have signed an engagement letter with me, that agreement governs our work together and its limitation of liability controls over anything on this page. Otherwise, to the fullest extent the law allows, my total liability for any claim arising from your use of this site is limited to the fees you paid me in the six months before the claim arose. I am not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, in any circumstance. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence.

Your responsibility for your own decisions

The Business Health Review is information and perspective to help you run your business. It is not a recommendation to take any specific action, and it is not investment, tax, or legal advice. The decisions are yours.

Text messaging

If you give me your mobile number, I may text you about your work: a reply to a question, a reminder, a request for a document, or a note that something is done. Conversational and customer care only, never marketing, and your number goes to no one else. Reply STOP to stop and HELP for help. What follows is the standard carrier-required language, kept in its original wording.

Data Sharing

Customer data is not shared with 3rd parties for promotional or marketing purposes.

Mobile opt-in and consent are never shared with anyone for any purpose. Any information sharing that may be mentioned elsewhere in this policy excludes mobile opt-in data.

We do not sell, rent, transfer, or otherwise disclose consumer personal data or SMS consent data to any external organization for any purpose, except as required by law.

We maintain administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including restricted access and staff authorization controls, to prevent unauthorized sharing of user data.
